RCGS Information: Research Requests

RCGS volunteers will help to locate information relating to genealogy and family histories. Research services are provided to researchers who do not have access to the Riley County Genealogical Library. The library has an extensive collection of materials emphasizing Riley County genealogy, and more limited collections relating to the surrounding counties.

We accept requests for pictures of tombstones located within a 25 mile radius of Manhattan. Photo requests may take some time to fulfill as this service is made available through volunteers.

Information requests must meet the requirements listed in 1 & 2 & 3 below.

We do not accept requests by phone or e-mail.

Use one of these forms to make your request. Be sure to complete all required information. Incomplete request forms will not be processed.

1. Persons needing copies of reference material found in a RCGS publication such as the Kansas Kin magazine or the book, Pioneers of the Bluestem Prairie, or copies of newspaper obituaries, may send a request for copies using the Lookup Form. There is a $5 lookup fee for each request. Please send your check at the time you receive the requested copies.

2. Persons desiring genealogy research by RCGS volunteers may make their request using the Research Request Form. Here is a charge for copying and postage costs in 2. and 3. above. You may set the remainder of the fee according to value you place on the information we are able to provide.

3. We will take pictures of tombstones located in any cemetery located in Riley County. See listing of Riley County Cemeteries. Use the Photo Request Form. Images of the tombstones will be sent to you by email. There is a $5 fee for each photo. Please send your check at the time you receive the requested photos.

These offers are made both as a service to the genealogical community and as a means of supporting our non-profit organization.
