Who We Are

Formed in 1963, Riley County Genealogical Society (RCGS) is an independent facility focusing on Riley County Kansas and it's surrounding counties.

We are:

  • A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
  • Supported by membership dues and donations
  • Located in the historic red brick house at 2005 on Claflin Rd, Manhattan, KS
  • Open to the public without charge
  • Staffed by volunteers
  • Member of Kansas Council of Genealogical Societies (KCGS)
  • Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS)

We provide:

  • A genealogy research room housing a collection of books, family histories, genealogy periodicals, and RCGS publications. Two computers, a microfilm/fiche reader, and volunteers are available to assist you.
  • Workshops, help sessions, and classes on genealogical topics. Watch for details on our website, in the local newspapers and flyers in the library
  • Kansas Kin Periodical to RCGS members as part of their membership


  • Provide educational and research opportunities for genealogy and family history researchers,
  • Maintain a genealogical research library, and
  • Collect, preserve and publish genealogical and historical records for Riley County and surrounding area.
