Who We Are
Formed in 1963, Riley County Genealogical Society (RCGS) is an independent facility focusing on Riley County Kansas and it's surrounding counties.
We are:
- A 501(c)(3) non-profit organization
- Supported by membership dues and donations
- Located in the historic red brick house at 2005 on Claflin Rd, Manhattan, KS
- Open to the public without charge
- Staffed by volunteers
- Member of Kansas Council of Genealogical Societies (KCGS)
- Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS)
We provide:
- A genealogy research room housing a collection of books, family histories, genealogy periodicals, and RCGS publications. Two computers, a microfilm/fiche reader, and volunteers are available to assist you.
- Workshops, help sessions, and classes on genealogical topics. Watch for details on our website, in the local newspapers and flyers in the library
- Kansas Kin Periodical to RCGS members as part of their membership
OUR MISSION:
- Provide educational and research opportunities for genealogy and family history researchers,
- Maintain a genealogical research library, and
- Collect, preserve and publish genealogical and historical records for Riley County and surrounding area.
