Cemetery Notes

Members of the Riley County Genealogical Society in Manhattan, Kansas undertook the project of reading and publishing inscriptions found in Riley County, Kansas cemeteries.  Books with possible additional information may be viewed at the RCGS Library.  These books are also available for purchase.

  1. Rural Riley County and town cemeteries other than Manhattan were read in 2000.
  2. Sunset Cemetery in Manhattan was read in 2008.  There are very few burials since 2008 because this cemetery is full.   New burials are now located in Sunrise Cemetery.
  3. Sunrise Cemetery located in Manhattan was read in 2006.
Sextons records were used and those having additional information, other than that found in the cemetery readings have been included. Names are shown as found on the records or tombstones, even with obvious misspellings. Look for all variant spellings when searching for surnames.

Cemeteries Moved From Blue Valley Because of Tuttle Creek Reservoir
The complete book of relocated cemeteries and graves is located in the Riley County Genealogical Society Library (RCGS). The book consists of reports of the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers relating to the relocation of cemeteries later inundated by the filling of Tuttle Creek Reservoir.
